Wilber Quispe Huaman Ayacucho, Perú

The Quispe Textile Arts Center. Wilber Quispe Huaman was born in Ayacucho, but currently resides in Lima as he was forced to flee his home due to the terrorism of Shining Path during the 1980s. Today Wilber is a master weaver and natural dyer, having started his textile art career as a child of 13 years. His passion and dreams for weaving have taken him far, including to the USA where he has taught and given exhibits on his work. Besides his international endeavors, Wilber also supports small, local groups in the production of hand-spun yarn which forms an indispensable part in his tapestry work.
