Ana del Lujna Suárez belongs to the high altitude community of Laguna Blanca, Catamarca, Argentina where she has been a spinner and weaver since her childhood. Along with the community of Laguna Blanca, Ana continues the century’s old practice of chaku, or the meticulous capture, shearing, and release back into the wild of vicuña. Ana’s ponchos are works of art, practically perfect in their creation, and have won the Best Poncho prize at the prestigious Fiesta Nacional e Internacional del Poncho (National and International Festival of the Poncho) in both 2014 and 2016 respectively.
